Two brothers killed in Gopeng car crash

GOPENG: Two brothers, aged 21 and 18, were killed while their parents were injured in a traffic accident at KM17 of Jalan Ipoh - Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.

E. Daniel Martin, 21, and E. Desmand, 18, who were passengers in their parents' Proton Wira, died at the scene when the vehicle crashed into another car, a Toyota Camry, in the 3.30pm incident.

The driver of the Camry, a 19-year-old, was unhurt.

A Kampar police spokesman said preliminary investigations suggest that the Wira had veered into the opposite lane. The driver of the Camry, in a bid to avoid colliding with the Wira head-on, swerved to the right and clipped the Wira's left side.

The resulting crash left the two brothers dead.

The brothers' parents, who sustained minor injuries, were brought to the Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun (HRPB) for treatment.

Their sons' remains were brought to the same hospital for a post-mortem examination.

No arrests have been made so far. The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by dangerous driving.
