Kelantan closes last flood relief centre as massive clean-up begins

KOTA BARU: All flood relief centres in Kelantan have been officially closed, with the last of the 15,000 evacuees who took temporary shelter in them at the height of the east coast floods returning to their homes.

The last two flood relief centres in Tumpat at SK Pengkalan Kubor 1 and SK Pengkalan Kubor 2 were officially closed at 3pm today.

The situation on the ground has improved dramatically due to good weather, allowing flood waters to recede almost entirely and making it safe for evacuees to return to their houses.

Clean-up works at schools used as relief centres are now being expedited to allow classes to resume in a day or two.
