Sungai Air Tawar assemblyman Kamarol Zaki, a fair politician, says Zahid

SABAK BERNAM: The late Sungai Air Tawar assemblyman Kamarol Zaki Abdul Malik will always be remembered as a fair politician who helped everyone in need, said Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The deputy prime minister said Kamarol Zaki, had been an assemblyman who served not only those who supported him but also voters of other parties in Sabak Bernam.

“Allahyarham Zaki will always be remembered as a kind assemblyman for his service to the people of Sungai Air Tawar.

“I personally knew him as a fair leader who did not only extended assistance to Barisan Nasional voters, but also those who did not support him (when he contested for the state assembly seat in 2013),” said Zahid, after taking part in the solat jenazah for Kamarol Zaki at Ar-Rahmaniah Mosque in Sungai Air Tawar at 6pm today.

The prayer was led by the late assemblyman’s third son Mohd Naqib, 25 and participated by over 1,000 people.

Zahid, who is also Umno vice-president, said Selangor BN leaders would continue the legacy of Kamarol Zaki by serving the people of Sungai Air Tawar.

This includes continuing with development projects and realising all promises made by Kamarol Zaki to the people.

During his visit, Zahid also extended his condolences to the deceased’s family including his first wife Rossimah Abbas, 56, and second wife, Faridah Abdul Jalil, 43.

The atmosphere was sombre at the mosque when Faridah started crying as the hearse carrying Kamarol Zaki’s body left the mosque’s compound for the Kampung Sungai Air Tawar Cemetery.

This morning, the assemblyman was found lying unconscious in the living room of his home at about 8.30am.

Sabak Bernam district police chief Superintendent Nor Azmi Isa said the post-mortem conducted at the Tengku Ampuan Jamaah Hospital here revealed that Kamarol Zaki had died of a heart attack.

He was laid to rest at the cemetery about 6.30pm today.

Kamarol Zaki also left behind four sons aged between 20 and 32, and two grandchildren.
