Penang cops to wrap up case on 'Datuk Seri' who allegedly assaulted guard

GEORGE TOWN: Police expect to wrap up on Friday their investigations into a businessman caught on video allegedly beating a security guard with a bold cutter at Delima Palace Condominium here last Saturday.

State police chief Datuk Chuah Ghee Lye said police have recorded statements of five people including the accused, who was believed to hold a 'Datuk Seri’ title.

"We are almost finished with our investigations and will wrap it up by this Friday.

"We will submit the investigation papers to the State Prosecuting Unit for their further action," he told reporters here yesterday when asked to comment on the case.

It was reported that a video of the condominium security guard being badly assaulted by the 50-year-old businessman has gone viral on social media.

The 40-second video depicts the resident – who was furious that his Mercedes Benz had been clamped - attempting to remove the clamp from his front right tyre.

The resident then started punching, kicking and beating the guard with a steel cutter when he realised the guard was filming his actions.

The 43-year-old victim sustained facial and bodily injuries in the incident, which occurred near the lobby of the condominium.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing hurt.
