PETRA JAYA: Santubong member of Parliament Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, who is also the Natural Resources and Environment Minister, has been announced as the Barisan Nasional (BN) election machinery director for the Tanjung Datu by-election.
The announcement was made by Chief Minister and newly-appointed Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) president Datuk Amar Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Abang Openg after the party’s Supreme Council meeting here today.
“We are making preparations to face the by-election.
“We have appointed Wan Junaidi as the election machinery director, as the Tanjung Datu state seat is one of the three constituencies under the Santubong parliamentary constituency,” he told reporters.
Abdul Rahman Zohari said he will announce the BN candidate for the by-election, slated for nomination and polling on Feb 4 and 18 respectively, soon. He did not give a firm date for the announcement.
He also kept mum when asked about the number of potential candidates for the by-election, as identified by the party.
“Maybe one, two, three, four or five (people)..,” he said.
