Wan Junaidi resigns as Dewan Negara president, to become next Sarawak governor

KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar has reportedly submitted his resignation as the Dewan Negara president, expected to be appointed as the eighth Governor of Sarawak.

A news portal, The Malaysian Insight, citing a resignation letter, disclosed this development.

Wan Junaidi is expected to take the oath of office later.

The current Sarawak Head of State is Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud, who has held the position since March 2014 after he stepped down as the Sarawak chief minister that he had held for nearly 33 years.
