Siblings thrown off motorcycle, boy dies, sister injured in collision with SUV

SUNGAI PETANI: An 11-year-old boy was killed on the spot while his elder sister suffered serious injuries when the motorcycle they were travelling in collided with a Range Rover Evoque SUV in Jalan Cinta Sayang near Taman Tuanku Haminah here this evening.

Muhammad Khairzuran Khairuddin, who was riding pillion, died from severe head injury after he was thrown off the motorcycle in the 7.35pm incident.

His 17-year-old sister Khairunnisaa, who sustained serious head and leg injuries, was rushed to Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital.

Kuala Muda police chief Assistant Commissioner Md Zuker Md Isa said initial investigation showed that the siblings were coming out from a junction near the Public Land Transport Commission (SPAD) office to get to a fast-food restaurant.

“The rider made a sudden right turn into Taman Tuanku Haminah and the SUV driver, who was travelling from Taman Peruda towards Cinta Sayang Club failed to avoid the motorcycle in time and knocked the rear of the machine.

“Both victims were thrown off the motorcycle in the collision and landed on the road.

“The boy who suffered severe head injury, died on the spot while his sister who also suffered serious head and leg injuries was rushed to the hospital,” Zuker said in a statement.

The siblings were from Paya Nahu Flats.
