Fire breaks out in baby ward of Shah Alam hospital

SHAH ALAM: A small fire broke out at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the Shah Alam Hospital in Section 7 here yesterday, but there was no loss of life or injury.

According to a source at the hospital, the fire is believed to have started at 9am, and the hospital is still waiting for a detailed report from the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) on the cause and losses.

"All 36 babies at the ward were transferred to a nearby ward due to the fire.

"Efficient crisis management had helped the hospital move out the babies in a short time," the source said when met at the hospital.

A Selangor JBPM spokesman said the small fire involved a piece of equipment in the NICU ward and was promptly doused. - BERNAMA
