Senior MAHB officer detained by MACC for graft released on bail

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) senior officer who was detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Feb 22 over allegations of abuse of power, was released on bail today.

The 41-year-old man, said to be a senior general manager in the human resources department, is alleged to have abused his position to approve an RM80,000 allocation for skin and slimming treatments for himself.

He was ordered released on RM40,000 bail and one surety by magistrate Nik Isfahanie Tasnim Wan Ab. Rahman.

Previously, the magistrate’s court granted the MACC's remand application of four days since last Thursday to assist in the investigation.

He was arrested by the MACC at his residence in Bandar Tun Razak, Cheras at 11am, last Wednesday.

It is learnt that the suspect, who is believed to have been formerly obese, allegedly misused the corporate credit card provided by MAHB to undergo surgery which was not stipulated as permissible in the interest contract.

Initial investigation also revealed that the suspect received the treatments from a private clinic and hospital in the Klang Valley between Dec 2015 and Aug 2016.
