K. T'ganu police sweep yields four suspected pushers, various drugs

KUALA TERENGGANU: Police detained four suspected drug pushers, including a woman, in three separate arrests here last Thursday.

State Narcotics Department Chief Superintendent Roslan Tahir said police also seized various drugs worth RM17,120 from the suspects.

He said the first two suspects, aged 55 and 35, were detained in a raid at a building in Jalan Sultan Zainal Abidin here at about 12.40am.

"Upon inspection, the raiding team found four small tubes containing heroin and 25 syabu pills from the suspects' pockets,” he told reporters at a press conference today.

Meanwhile, in a follow-up raid at about 2.45pm, the team detained a 35-year-old man at the roadside in Jalan Padang Midin here.

"The team seized various drugs, including 20 tubes of heroin, Erimin 5 and Syabu worth RM12,000.

"In the third raid, at a low-cost housing project in Ajil at about 7pm, we detained a woman and found syabu weighing 100 grams hidden under the carpet in a room," he said, adding that the three raids were the biggest in the city this year.

Roslan said all the suspects have been remanded for investigation under Section 39A and 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carry the mandatory death penalty upon conviction.
