Pahang villagers evacuated as Sg. Lembing overflows

KUANTAN: Eight residents of Pekan Sungai Lembing were evacuated early this morning when nearby Sungai Lembing overflowed due to a continuous downpour.

The victims, from two families, were evacuated to SJKC Sungai Lembing relief centre when the village was inundated by 1.5 metres of floodwaters.

According to Pahang Civil Defence Force director Colonel Zainal Yusoff, the flash flood was triggered by continuous heavy rain in the village from 1am until 5am.

He noted though that the water level of Sungai Lembing is now receding and that roads there are accessible by vehicles.
