(Actionline) Missing railing raises concern

PEDESTRIANS using Sungai Raja, near Bangunan Tunku in Alor Star, are concerned as a section of the walkway’s safety railing is missing.

It is learnt that the metal railing has been missing for several months, but no action has been taken to replace it.

Ali Rahman, 45, who works in Bangunan Tunku, said the metal railing was meant to prevent pedestrians from falling into the river.

“People working in the area use the walkway to get to the bank or offices. The railing had been missing for a couple of months now and it is dangerous for pedestrians who use the walkway.”

ACTIONLINE

Alor Star Mayor Datuk Mohd Zohdi Saad said the Alor Star City Council would investigate the matter.

“We will despatch a team to the site to investigate and take action immediately.”
