Man suspected of Ipoh bride-to-be murder remanded [VIDEO]

IPOH: A 34-year-old man who was detained by police yesterday in connection with the murder of a single mother at Taman Dato Lew Yap Sip here has been remanded for seven days beginning today, to help in the investigation.

The remand order was issued by magistrate Mohd Noor Suhaima to allow police to conduct a probe under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Bride-to-be Hamidah Abdul Rahman, 53, was found dead in her bedroom with a stab wound on her back.

She was found by her youngest daughter, Noor Shairah Hussain, 17, who wanted to wake her up at 5.30am.

Ipoh police chief Assistant Commissioner Sum Chang Keong said that police picked up the man at a wholesale market in Gunung Rapat, where he worked, at 12 noon.

"With the arrest, we believe that we can solve the case soon," he said.
