Johor Sultan concludes meeting with MACC, both parties mum on discussion

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) spent almost an hour in a meeting with the Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, here today.

The closed-door discussion, which was held at a luxury condominium here, is believed to have been over the revelation made by Sultan Ibrahim of an honorific title-buying attempt by an individual recently.

MACC Chief Commissioner, Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad, who arrived at about 8.30am, was seen leaving the condo’s compound at about 9.40am.

Clad in a brown suit and songkok, Dzulkifli declined comment on the agenda of the meeting, when approached by pressmen in the lobby.

Sultan Ibrahim, who left the apartment at about 10.15am, also declined comment when approached.

"I am going shopping," he said in response, with a cheerful smile.

The Johor ruler recently revealed that an individual had offered him RM2 million to propose, to the Chief Secretary to the Government, names of candidates for 'Tan Sri' titles, which would be bestowed by the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong.

Sultan Ibrahim declined to reveal the person's identity, saying only that the government is “clean in this issue”, and that the person is a Kuala Lumpur local.
