BDB Triple Challenge 2017 to showcase Kedah's natural wonders

LANGKAWI: Organiser of the 'BDB Triple Challenge 2017' – state-linked company Bina Darulaman Bhd (BDB) – is confident that Kedah’s less-known attractions will enjoy exposure to the extreme games event’s international participants, and in turn, spur the state’s tourism sector.

Its group managing director, Datuk Izham Yusoff, said the double-edge triple challenge, which enters its second edition this April 22, is part of the company's strategy to promote Kedah – from its popular attractions to its undiscovered wonders – as an international tourism destination.

"This is not just an extreme games event – it should be viewed from the perspective of promoting the state’s tourism sector, in particular, locations in Langkawi, Jitra and Kulim, which are less known among outsiders.

"Participants of the 'BDB Climb & Run Langkawi' this April 22 will have the opportunity to learn about the 70 species of plant, 120 species of herb and 100 species of butterfly found in Gunung Raya here.

"They will climb the 4,287 steps of Tangga Helang Seribu Kenangan, while exploring Gunung Raya’s majestic natural environment," he said during the launch of the BDB Climb & Run Langkawi 2017 at the Underwater World Langkawi here today.

Izham added that the BDB Climb & Run Langkawi is one of the three extreme sports events organised by BDB this year.

The other two events are the BDB Extreme competition, to be held on Sept 23 at Bandar Darul Aman, Jitra, and the BDB Water Rafting challenge, to be held on Nov 18 at Sungai Sedim, Kulim.

Izham thanked the Youth and Sports Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin, for supporting the event.
