SEBERANG JAYA: Two video clips have emerged of a large, violent brawl at a famous nasi kandar restaurant at Taman Chai Leng here.
The two minute-long videos – culled from closed circuit television (CCTV) footage at the restaurant – shows a violent scuffle spontaneously erupting between two groups of men, which wreaked havoc on the entire restaurant.
The confrontation appears to begin with a verbal exchange between several men seated at opposite ends of the eatery. This escalates when the members of one group begin throwing objects at the other.
The other group instantly reacts by setting on the other men, and pandemonium breaks out as punches and kicks are delivered, and chairs are used as weapons.
A family sitting at a nearby table is seen panicking, and attempts to flee to safety as the commotion envelops them.
The second video clip shows the incident from a different angle, as it spills over into the kitchen area of the restaurant, and the outlet’s staff running for cover.
Judging from the lighting in and outside the nasi kandar outlet, the incident occurred at night time.
Seberang Prai Tengah district police chief Assistant Commissioner Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid confirmed the incident and said that a press statement will be issued later.
