Nigerian man sought over suspected abuse, death of five-year-old boy

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are looking for a Nigerian man to facilitate a probe into a suspected abuse case which led to the death of a five-year-old boy.

The man, Ebiziem Afeanyi Stephen, 31, is believed to have fled following the death of Muhammad Adam Oshi Abdul Rahman.

Brickfields police chief Assistant Commissioner Ruslan Khalid said they believe the case would be solved if the man was found.

"We believe he is still in the country. We hope those with information on his whereabouts will come forward to the police," he told a press conference today.

Those with information on Stephen are urged to inform the nearest police station or call the investigation officer, Assistant Superintendent Mohd Rozymi Mohd Alwi at 03-90516222.

Stephen is believed to be the boyfriend of the victim’s mother.

Police arrested the 28-year-old woman in Bayan Baru, Penang on Friday to assist the probe.

The unemployed woman had two other children and they are currently under the hospital's care.

Ruslan said there were no signs that the two other boys were abused.

Last Tuesday, Adam was taken to a private hospital near here when he fell unconscious.

It is believed that the mother and Stephen had sent him to the hospital before they fled.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
