Eleven men, students caught red-handed at Kampung Gong Kepas homestay drug party

BESUT: Police detained 11 men, including four secondary school students at a drug party in a homestay in Kampung Gong Kepas here, yesterday.

District police chief Superintendent Mohd Zamri Mohd Rowi said police received a tip-off about the drug party and deployed a raiding party at about 2am.

“In the operation, we found 11 people aged between 16 and 28. Following a urine test, 10 of them tested positive for methamphetamine. They included four secondary school students aged 16 and 17.

“We had to force opened the main door as they did not respond to our team’s call for cooperation. “Police seized 30 Erimin-5 pills and five ecstasy pills and after further checks inside the bedroom, we also found Yaba pills weighing 0.2g,” he told reporters at the Kampung Raja police station today.

He said the organiser of the event, a 22-year-old, was also caught in the raid. It was understood that the group rented the homestay for the drug party on Monday.

“We believe there were more drugs used in the party but they had probably destroyed it before policemen entered the homestay. They probably spotted the raiding team through the peephole and flushed the drugs down the toilet,” he said.

He added that the case was being investigated under Section 12 (2) and Section 15(1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
