GEORGE TOWN: A woman has lodged a police report after she discovered a camera hidden inside the bathroom of her homestay in Jelutong here.
Twitter has been abuzz with a posting yesterday alleging the tenant of a homestay had fell victim to a hidden camera inside the bathroom.
The posting immediately garnered attention.
Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Razlam Ab Hamid confirmed police received a report on the matter.
He said the case is being probed under Section 509 of the Penal Code.
"The initial investigation revealed the 24-year-old victim had checked into the homestay in Jelutong with three friends for a holiday
"On Feb 6, about 8pm, she found the camera hidden inside the toilet perfume container inside the bathroom.
"She immediately removed the camera and complained to the owner of the homestay before lodging a report," he said today.
Razlam said police are investigating this incident from all angles.
"Initial checks showed there was no image or video inside the camera storage," he added.
He urged the public not to make any speculation on the incident which can affect the police's investigation.
