MACC to go after more corrupt 'sharks' come August

KUALA LUMPUR: More corruption ‘sharks’ will be arrested in August and September.

Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad said earlier operations were just ‘warm-up’ sessions.

“We slowed down during Ramadan and made way for festivities in Syawal.

“Even then I had ordered for the closed Felda case to be reopened for further investigations and to bring in the culprits.

“This is just the beginning as operations will heat up in the next two months,” he said in a speech today.

Dzulkifli attended a Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM) Hari Raya open house where he also launched JMM’s “MyAduan Rasuah”.

Also present was JMM president Datuk Azwanddin Hamzah.

On July 14, Dzulkifli was reported as saying earlier investigations on Felda Investment Corporation (FIC) found that it had purchased a hotel in Kensington, London, at a high price which had caused losses of millions of ringgit.

He added that a more detailed investigation will be carried out to ascertain whether corruption and abuse of power were involved in the hotel purchase.
