Labourer who hit girlfriend for wearing white slapped with RM1,500 fine

SARIKEI: A 40-year-old labourer must have regretted the day he assaulted his girlfriend just because she was wearing a white attire, which is his least favourite colour.

Rudy Iswandy Salleh was slapped with RM1,500 fine in default of eight months' jail by the Sessions Court here yesterday. He committed the offence on Monday.

Judge Maris Agan handed down the sentence against the accused after the latter pleaded guilty to committing the offence under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.

Rudy was charged with assaulting Francylya Tiara Stephen, 28, at her rented house in Jalan Abdul Rahman at 4.45pm on July 24.

According to the fact of the case, the accused had kicked the victim on the backed of her body and punched her on the forehead during the incident.

He had assaulted the victim because she was wearing a white uniform, a colour, which he deemed as "tidak senonoh" (indecent).

He was ordered to serve the jail sentence after he could not pay the fine.

Prosecuting officer Inspector Anbarasu Gobi prosecuted while the accused was not represented.
