SHAH ALAM: Police are on the hunt for three parang-wielding robbers who not only relieved a hair salon owner of RM8,000 but escaped with the belongings of her employees and customers on Monday.
The incident occurred at De' Hair Saloon at Jalan Setia Prima in Setia Alam, said district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shafien Mamat.
"The salon owner said the trio had entered the premises and headed straight to the counter.
“They took the money from the counter, a handbag as well as four handphones from her staff and customers.
“The robbers had also grabbed gold and platinum chains from the customers.
Shafien said a special task force had been set up to investigate the case.
“It is studying the closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera recording to identify the robbers," he said today.
The case is being investigated under Section 395 and 397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery.
A CCTV recording of the robbery has been making its round on social media with a Facebook account user Eunice sharing the ordeal of being robbed.
On her Facebook, Eunice said her mother, who was at the hair salon with her, was also robbed.
She said a robber had entered the premises and asked to get his hair dyed.
However, the salon owner was said to have rejected his request and but he refused to leave.
He then walked to back of the premises on the pretext of using the toilet and upon seeing that no one else was in the premises, he signalled his two other accomplices to enter.
Eunice wrote that one of the robbers had asked the owner to surrender her money and handphone.
She said that the robbers had demanded for her and other customers to surrender their cash, jewellery and handphones.
She said the robbers had also demanded the owner to disable the “Find My iPhone” smartphone application to avoid detection.
While making a hasty exit, Eunice said the robbers had left behind a bag.
In her posting, Eunice had also asked for the public to keep a lookout for two Oppo handphones that were sold by suspicious men.
