MACC brings Unisel's vice-chancellor in to have statement recorded

SHAH ALAM: It is understood that Universiti of Selangor (Unisel) president and vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Mohammad Redzuan Othman has had his statement recorded by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigating officers.

This came following a raid conducted by MACC at Unisel this morning.

Mohammad Redzuan, who was seen arriving at Unisel administration building in Section 7 at 11am, spent about two hours giving his statement to the MACC investigating officers.

MACC is currently investigating a settlement contract between Unisel and its concession company, Jana Niaga Sdn Bhd (JNSB).

At about 1.20pm, uniformed officers were seen making their way to Unisel’s treasury office to pore over documents of the contract which is believed to involve tens of millions of ringgit.

Earlier, six MACC officers were seen arriving at the university's administration office at 10am.

Apart from Unisel, MACC investigating officers also raided the offices of JNSB based in the university’s main campus in Bestari Jaya and Desa Pandan in Kuala Lumpur as well as Selangor Incorporated’s (MBI) office here.

The investigation was believed to have involved the awarding of a new contract to JNSB to manage its hostels.

This is despite the fact that JNSB had its contract terminated after the company had allegedly breached the concession agreement.
