Robbers armed with samurai sword attacks, robs 4 Pakistani men at furniture shop

NIBONG TEBAL: Four Pakistani men were seriously injured after they were attacked with a samurai sword during a robbery at a furniture shop in Taman Seri Acheh here today.

In the 9.55am incident, it is understood that three unidentified suspects had parked their Proton Wira Areoback in the front of the victims’ furniture shop.

Two of the suspects in masks had barged into the shop as one of the victims was opening the store’s shutters. The suspect then shoved the victim into the shop.

There was a brief struggle between the suspects and the victims, during which the suspects’ masks came off.

The victim together with his three friends managed to overpower the two suspects and pin them down.

However, a third suspect then walked into the shop with a samurai sword and started attacking the four men.

The robbers made away with three handphones and RM500 in cash.

Seberang Perai Selatan Superintendent Shafee Abdul Samad said the victims suffered slash wounds on their bodies and have been hospitalised at the Parit Buntar Hospital in Perak.

"The victims were able to identify the suspects.

"There was no close circuit television camera in the area or nearby, and neither were there any independent witnesses.

"Investigation is still ongoing and a forensic team had been sent to the scene to gather evidence from the items left behind by the suspects," he told reporters here today.

The case is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt in committing a robbery.
