Former civil servant remanded by MACC for bribery

PORT DICKSON: A former civil servant has been remanded for five days to facilitate the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC)’s probe into a bribery case.

The remand order, which begins today, was issued by Magistrate Siti Khairiah Abd Razak following an application made by MACC prosecuting officer Mohd Fadzlin Mohd Salleh.

Clad in a green baju kurung, the 32-year-old suspect, who was a former assistant administrative officer from Akademi Pembangunan Belia Malaysia here, arrived at the Magistrate's Court here at 9.30am.

Yesterday, Negri Sembilan's MACC had arrested the suspect at the Port Dickson MACC office at 3.35pm.

The suspect had allegedly received RM800 from a director of a tourism company, as an inducement to certify payment vouchers, for an organisation durable programme 2016, in which the payment had been credited into the suspect's account.
