Jealous husband believed to have killed Indonesian housemate; police launch manhunt

KUALA LUMPUR: A 32-year-old Indonesian man is believed to have been stabbed to death by a housemate due to jealousy.

It is understood that the housemate had suspected that the victim was having an affair with his wife.

Police were alerted by the members of public who found the victim, known only as Horiri, with stab wounds at the workers’ quarters of a high-rise construction site in Kampung Batu Muda, Jinjang at around 6.40pm on Oct 4.

Sentul police chief Assistant Commissioner R. Munusamy said police had launched a manhunt for the main suspects, Kasnawi and his wife, Yumyat.

"The victim, his brother and the couple were staying together. Prior to the incident, the suspect had warned the victim's brother to take care of his brother as he is doing something illicit.

"Initial investigation showed that the suspect's wife was in a relationship with the victim. Based on that, we believed that the motive of the murder was due to jealousy," he said at a press conference at the district police headquarters today.

Munusamy said the victim was stabbed three times and the post-mortem results showed that he died of the injuries.

He added a 26cm-long knife was found at the scene and the item has been sent to Chemical Department for examinations.

He urged those with information to contact investigating officer, Assistant Superintendent Farokh Faisal Ahmad at 017-7762991.

Police is investigating the case under Section 302 for murder.
