Varsity student raped, robbed at knifepoint by man after pretending to ask for directions

SHAH ALAM: A university student was raped and robbed by a man who pretended to ask for direction in Section 7 here yesterday.

The 8.30pm incident happened when the victim, aged 22, was walking towards a bus stop after shopping at a pasar malam.

Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shafien Mamat said the assailant drove his car near the victim and started asking for directions.

"The victim did not suspect anything amiss, before the man suddenly brandished a knife and pointed it at her.

"He then pulled the victim into his car, and drove towards an industrial area near an apartment in Section 7 before raping her at a secluded spot.

"After raping the victim, the suspect took her cash of about RM100 and cellphone before ordering her to get out of the vehicle. The suspect then fled the scene," he said.

Shafien said the victim had lodged a police report, and was sent to Shah Alam Hospital where she was given a medical check up.

He said police had formed a special task force to trace the man.

The case was being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape, and Section 392 and 397 for armed robbery.
