BESUT: A 34-year-old suspected drug trafficker who was high on drugs was arrested in a house at Jalan Kampung Kayu Kelat in Kampung Alor Peroi, Kuala Besut.
District police chief Superintendent Mohd Zamri Mohd Rowi said in the raid, police found a bag comprising various types of drugs including a vial of heroin, 14 straws of heroin, four Eramin-5 pills, and two stimulant pills.
He said the narcotics team from the Besut police station raided the house following a tip-off at 5am and found the suspect, who had drug records since 2009, asleep in a bedroom.
“He was awakened by the raiding party and co-operated with the team. Police also seized tools for drug abuse in the house. The suspect was taken to the Besut police station for further investigation and tested positive for heroin and methamphetamine," he said.
He said investigation showed that the suspect was involved in distributing drugs near Kampung Tok Saboh, Kuala Besut since last year.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 for trafficking and if convicted, the suspect could face up to five years imprisonment and whipping.
