Jamal Yunos remanded 2 days over alleged threats against Zaid

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos has been remanded for two days to facilitate investigations over threats he made against Datuk Zaid Ibrahim.

Dang Wangi police chief Assistant Commissioner Shaharuddin Abdullah said the Sungai Besar Umno division chief is being investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code for intentional insult and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.

Jamal was arrested at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) at 8pm yesterday and was brought in an unmarked police car to the Dang Wangi police headquarters.

Zaid has stirred controversy when he tweeted a response to an interview in which the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah criticised Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

On Friday, Jamal was reported as saying that he would take the law in his own hand and hunt Zaid down if police failed to investigate the DAP member.

On Wednesday, Jamal had questioned the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission for being slow in taking action against Zaid.
