Malaysian Malindo Air pilot held in Batam for drug offence

KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysian Malindo Air pilot was arrested in Batam, Indonesia, on Saturday after he tested positive for syabu.

The 34-year-old Kelantanese was detained after a urine test conducted by the Riau National Anti-Narcotics Agency (NANA) at Hang Nadim International Airport in Batam.

According to Detik.com, inspection also found a 1.09g syabu packet and a tool believed used to take drugs in the pilot's luggage.

“The arrest was made as he was tested positive for drugs,” the report said.

Meanwhile, Kompas.com reported that the suspect was scheduled to fly from Batam to Subang last night.

“The suspect was staying in Batam while waiting to fly to Subang around 11am on Sunday,” it said.

“The pilot has been handed over to Batam NANA for further action.”
