Police probe Pandan Indah student's claims of being abducted by 'men in white van'

AMPANG: Police are probing claims that a Form One student was almost abducted by three men in a white van, last Friday.

Ampang Jaya district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Hamzah Alias, said the police have received a report from the victim on the night of the incident.

He said police have yet to be able to verify the authenticity of the claim, as an investigation is ongoing.

He said an investigation paper has been opened on the matter to probe a possible abduction case.

"We are still investigating the matter. For now, there are no witnesses or CCTV camera footage which can aid the investigation.

"With regards to the injuries sustained by the boy, it was not caused by the alleged abduction, but because he had scraped his arm against a door at the school," he said.

According to a police report, which went viral on social media, the boy claimed that the incident took place at 12 noon as he was waiting for as school bus at a bus stand in Taman Pandan Indah.

He had claimed that a van had stopped in front of him before two men allegedly dragged him into the vehicle.

The boy had claimed that there was one other man in the van, who was acting as the driver.

The boy claimed that he was in the van for 10 minutes. He claimed that he saw a signboard for Pandan Jaya and a bus stop, before he bit the arm of the man next to him to flee.

He also claimed that the man seated in the front passenger seat then opened the van door. The boy allegedly took the opportunity to kick the man before running in the direction of the bus stop.

The boy then claimed that he took a bus to go to school. He said he sustained an injury to his hand from an incident at school.

The incident was related to a teacher about 5.30pm while the boy was receiving treatment at the Ampang Hospital.

The teacher then contacted the boy's parents, who collected him at the school and later lodged a report at the Pandan Indah police station.

Two pictures of the student with an injured arm were subsequently shared on social media.
