A nine-year old girl died from alleged abuse by her own father and step mother at their house in Taman Vista Jaya, Lukut, last night.
Port Dickson district police chief Superintendent Zainudin Ahmad said the father discovered his daughter unconscious at 11.30 pm.
“The 38-year old man tried to revive the girl by giving her cardiopulmonary resuscitation but failed.
He then rushed his daughter to Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital to seek medical treatment but the victim was pronounced dead by the doctor at 12.30 am.
Preliminary investigation show that there were lesions, abrasions and swells all over the victim's body," Zainudin said in a statement here today.
He added the victim's body was handed over to the hospital forensics unit and post mortem results show that the victim died of severe internal injuries.
"The victim died of kidney failure, ruptured intestines and her right and left ribs were broken believed to be bashed with a blunt object."
Zainudin said the father was picked up by the police from the same offence in June last year following a report lodged by the victim's mother who saw swells and abrasions on the girl's body when she picked her up from her ex-husband.
"The father who had custody of her daughter was referred to the court and he was released on grounds that he wanted to provide her daughter education."
Police arrested the father at the hospital last night after the post mortem results and will request a remand order at the court tomorrow.
