Toddler badly injured in Serdang hit-and-run incident

KUALA LUMPUR: A 3-year-old boy was injured when he was struck by a car while crossing the road with his aunt at Jalan Raya 6, Serdang Jaya here on Thursday afternoon.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, and police are now on the lookout for the suspect in the 1.30pm hit-and-run incident.

“The (boy and his 40-year-old aunt) were crossing the road at the scene.

“The boy was then hit by an unidentified car. The driver fled the scene after the collision.

“The child sustained injuries to his forehead, cheeks and nose; received stitches to his right eyebrow; and suffered bruises on his left hand. He is currently being treated at the Serdang Hospital,” Serdang police chief Assistant Commissioner Megat Mohamad Aminuddin Megat Alias said.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1983 for inconsiderate driving.
