Police scrutinising CCTV footage of street fight in downtown KK [NSTTV]

KOTA KINABALU: Police are analysing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of a vicious street fight which broke out between a group of men near Bulatan Todak in the city here last week.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner M Chandra has asked witnesses and victims of the brawl, which took place at 10pm on Feb 12, to come forward to file a police report to assist in the investigation.

The 57-second video, which has since gone viral on social media, shows a group of men fighting in public and ganging up on two men in particular.

“While we are aware of the footage being viralled, no official report has been made (on the incident).

“We will probe this, but members of the public who witnessed the incident and victims involved are urged to make a report at the nearest police station,” Chandra said in a statement issued on Kota Kinabalu police’s Facebook page today.

He added that police will increase patrolling in the area to avoid such incidents from recurring.
