Viral videos insinuating public disorder are GE14 simulation exercise: Police

KUALA LUMPUR: Videos which had gone viral along with fake news insinuating public disorder were the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) simulation exercise ahead of the 14th General Election (GE14).

Bukit Aman Management Department director Datuk Seri Abdul Ghafar Rajab said PDRM had been intensifying its preparation to ensure that the GE14 would go smoothly and be conducted in a peaceful manner.

“This includes providing training courses and (conducting) simulation exercise in ensuring that every police officer and personnel on duty will be able to carry out their tasks with efficiency and professionalism,” he said in a statement here today.

Hence, Abdul Ghafar urged the public not to fall prey to such videos that could stir uneasiness among the people.

Meanwhile, he said the leave for police officers and personnel, to be frozen from March to May, was to allow them to participate in various courses and training sessions within the stipulated time.

It is aimed at ensuring that they will be well prepared when the date for GE14 is announced, he added.
