Azeez serves writ of summons on Guan Eng

GEORGE TOWN: A lawyer, representing Baling member of parliament Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim, handed over a writ of summons and statement of claim to Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng today.

Datuk Seri Jaharberdeen Mohamed Yunoos arrived at Lim’s office in Komtar here about 11am.

Jaharberdeen said they had filed a defamation suit at the High Court here last Friday.

“Lim has 14 days to file his defence. This suit concerns Lim’s allegation against my client last month during a press conference in Komtar and during a Chinese New Year celebration at the Penang Development Corporation (PDC),” he said when met today.

Jaharberdeen said the allegations brought about negative implications on Azeez’s reputation as a member of parliament and Tabung Haji chairman.

“The case management is fixed on April 9 here,” he added.

Last week, Lim was given four days to apologise and retract the allegation made against Azeez on the Penang undersea tunnel project. Lim however refused to apologise.
