Cops hunting robbers who opened fire in Kajang mini market, injuring worker

KAJANG: Police are on the hunt for three robbers who opened fire at a mini market here on Thursday night, wounding an employee.

The trio fired twice during the 9.45pm heist in Taming Jaya here, and one bullet struck the leg of a worker in his 20s.

The men, all in their 40s, fled the scene with RM4,000 in cash in a silver Proton Waja. They also took the mini market’s closed-circuit television (CCTV) recorder.

"The suspects released two shots using a semi-auto 9mm pistol. One of the shots hit the mini market worker, while other customers in the premises escaped unharmed,” Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said.

He added that checks revealed that the getaway Waja was bearing a fake vehicle registration plate.

Dzaffir said the case is being investigated under Section 3 of the Firearms (Increased Penalty) Act 1971, and urged those with information on the incident to contact investigating officer Assistant Superintendent Redzuan Mohd Salleh at 019 2714100.
