KUALA LUMPUR: The Rapid KL bus driver involved in an incident where he had allegedly ploughed into seven vehicles by driving dangerously along Jalan Ampang, here, has been remanded for four days beginning today.
Dang Wangi district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shaharudin Abdullah said the 32-year-old driver was detained last night after testing positive for methamphetamine.
An application for remand was approved by a KL magistrate to facilitate investigation.
"The bus driver is beineg investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952," Shaharudin said in a statement today.
The incident took place on Thursday night when the bus was travelling from Datuk Keramat heading towards the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2).
According to a video of the incident that went viral on social media, the bus driver was said to have hit a Proton Iswara, causing the car to hit a roadside burger stall.
Following that, the bus driver was said to have left the scene and four men on motorcycles took off after him.
This was when the bus driver began driving dangerously as evident via the viral video, and ploughed into several vehicles.
At one point, the bus came to a halt and the driver ran off on foot after which he was stopped by members of the public.
