Suspected of receiving bribes, three cops arrested

KOTA KINABALU: Three police personnel were arrested yesterday by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on suspicion of receiving bribes.

The arrests involved two General Operations Force (GOF) personnel and another cop serving in the city area, here.

All were detained between 4.40pm and 5.30pm after they were suspected of receiving gratification allegedly to not take action against an individual for not possessing identity documents.

The trio were believed to have committed the offence when they were on patrol duty in and outside the Centre Point shopping mall building on Aug 22.

An MACC source confirmed the arrests but declined to elaborate further.

All suspects were brought to the state MACC headquarters at the Federal Administration Complex building, here, for further investigations.
