Senior cop with 'Datuk' title detained by MACC for RM100,000 bribery

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained a senior police officer with ‘Datuk’ title to facilitate investigation over a bribery case involving more than RM100,000.

The 56-year-old senior assistant commissioner was detained at the MACC headquarters at 7.10pm today.

Sources said the suspect, who’s attached to Bukit Aman, was allegedly asking for and receiving the money between August last year and August this year.

“The suspect was believed to have asked for and received the money as an inducement for not taking action against a corporal from Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement who was allegedly taking bribes for reducing traffic summons.

“The officer has been detained under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009. The remand application will be made tomorrow morning at Putrajaya Sessions Court,” he said.
