10-year-old girl nearly abducted in Manjung

MANJUNG: A 10-year-old girl has claimed that she was nearly abducted by two men in a Proton Wira in Taman Fasa 2I, Seri Manjung, on Wednesday.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Hanif Othman said the girl claimed she returning home from school on her bicycle about 1.30pm when the incident occurred.

“As she was riding her bicycle, a dark blue Proton Wira with two men inside pulled up alongside. One of the men tried to pull the victim into the car, causing her to fall off her bicycle.

“The girl immediately picked herself up and ran to her nanny’s house. The victim then called her mother and told her what had happened. She was then brought to a police station where she lodged a report,” he told the New Straits Times Press.

Hanif said the victim, however, could not provide police with the registration number of the vehicle, adding that she did not recognise the men.

“There are, as yet, no known witnesses to the incident. The victim does not know the men but described one as being fair skinned with pimples on his face.

“Initial investigations at the scene of the incident revealed that there were no closed circuit television cameras in the area.”

Hanif said the girl did not suffer any injuries in the attempted abduction despite falling off her bicycle.

He said police had launched a manhunt for the two men and were trying to trace the Proton Wira.
