Man nabbed for allegedly beating 10-year-old son to death

KUALA LUMPUR: Police today arrested a 43-year-old man for allegedly beating his 10-year-old son to death in Kajang.

Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yusof said the suspect, said to be a priest at a temple in the district, was detained at 9.30am this morning.

"Last night, at 10.30am, we were alerted by medical officers at the Serdang Hospital about a boy being brought in to the hospital in an unconscious state.

"The doctor, after confirming the boy's death, found physical injuries to his head, legs, arms and abdomen,

"The post mortem later revealed that the cause of death to be multiple blunt force trauma to the body. The boy's identity was confirmed by his mother and siblings." he said in a statement.

Ahmad Dzaffir said the victim, the second of three siblings, was left under the man's care as the mother left home about two months ago.

"We will apply for remand at the Kajang magistrate's court tomorrow. The case has been classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder." he said.
