Cops nab lorry driver for driving against traffic on SKVE

KUALA LUMPUR: Police detained a lorry driver yesterday after he was caught on camera driving against the flow of traffic at KM27 of the South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE) near Kuala Langat.

Selangor police's Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Superintendent Azman Shari’at said the 59-year-old man was arrested at a rest and recreational area near Tanjung Dua Belas at 6pm.

"We were alerted by one of the road users who almost hit the lorry which was driving on the fast lane but against the traffic flow.

"Based on that a video that was widely circulated on social media, we managed to track down and lorry and apprehended the driver before he can do more damage.

"We immediately deployed a patrol unit after tracking him down at the rest area." he said.

Azman said checks showed the driver has several outstanding traffic summonses that included using mobile phone while driving and overtaking in dangerous manner.

"We will send him for urine and blood tests soon," he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 42 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
