Kidnappers' group identified

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Police are monitoring kidnappers who abducted three fishermen at Pegasus Reef off Kinabatangan on Dec 6.

State Police Commissioner Datuk Omar Mammah said they have identified the group.

“The security team is investigating and monitoring the movement of the group,” he said when contacted.

When asked on any recent phone call made by the group, Omar said there was none.

“Only that day when one of the victims’ wife received a call to inform her husband was kidnapped,” he added.

On Dec 6, three men known as Heri Ardiansyah, 19, Jari Abdullah, and Hariadin, 45, were reported to be missing from their fishing boat.

A day before, at about 6.30am, there were four armed men who attacked a boat with 12 crew at the same waters.

A skipper Didy Saviady, 40, was shot on his thigh while others were unhurt.
