Two Rohingya men remanded for bribing policeman [NSTTV]

SEREMBAN: Two Rohingya men, both holders of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), have been remanded for five days for allegedly offering RM85 bribe to policemen.

The remand order against both suspects, which will expire this Saturday, was granted by the Seremban Special Remand Court’s assistant registrar Mas Azmimim Ahmad following application by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) prosecuting officer Mohd Khairi Abdul Karim.

The suspects were stopped by policemen while they were riding a motorcycle at Taman Jujur, Sikamat here at 1pm yesterday.

They were arrested after the rider of the motorcycle failed to produce valid license.

One of the suspects alleged offered RM85 bribe to the policemen as inducement not to apprehend them for riding motorcycle with valid license.

The suspects, who were arrested under Section 17(b) of the MACC Act 2009, and the case has been handed over to the anti-graft busters.
