BALIK PULAU: A security guard at a secondary school here was arrested this afternoon on suspicion of raping a Form One student at the school.
The 24-year-old suspect, who is married, was believed to have had an affair with the 13-year-old victim since February this year.
The victim’s 49-year-old mother was alerted to her daughter’s affair last Friday, and had spotted the couple kissing.
She pressed her daughter for answers but to no avail.
Southwest district police chief Superintendent A.A. Anbalagan said the mother then decided to lodge a police report today, hoping to stop the relationship.
He said police later arrested the suspect at his workplace this afternoon for questioning.
“The suspect admitted to having sex with the victim once last month inside the guard post. He said they met in February.
“We will apply for a remand order to investigate the matter further.” he said.
Anbalagan said the victim was taken to the Penang Hospital for medical examination.
The case is investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.
