Three men try to steal Persian cats; one suspect arrested

KOTA KINABALU: Three men’s attempt to steal two Persian cats was unsuccessful when the cats’ owner caught one of the thieves red-handed at his house in Kampung Ganang, Kepayan, near here last night.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Habibi Majinji said the owner saw two men entered his house through the garage and took the two cats with their cages at about 4am.

“The owner went after the thieves and managed to catch one of them as they were putting the cages into their getaway car.

“Another one escaped with a third accomplice, who was the driver of the car,” he said, adding that both cats are safe.

Habibi said police had arrested the man, aged 30, and are now on a hunt for the other two suspects.

“The case is being investigated under Section 379 of Penal Code for theft,” he added.
