PUTRAJAYA: A former senior officer of a company has been remanded for four days starting today to assist in a probe over an alleged corruption case involving the supply of armoured vehicle equipment to a defence agency.
The 56-year-old man, who carries the title of "Datuk", was hauled by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to the magistrate's court here at about 10am today.
He was detained yesterday night at MACC's headquarters here.
Assistant Registrar Siti Roslizawati Mohd Zanin issued the remand order, which ends on May 25.
The graftbusters are investigating the case under Section 16(a) (A) of the MACC Act 2009 for accepting gratification.
MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Azam Baki was reported as saying "many" more people would be summoned over the case, which he described as still in its early stages.
So far, several high-ranking company executives, including a chief executive officer and a chief financial officer had been remanded on allegations of graft in the defence contract worth RM17 million.
DRB-Hicom Bhd has subsequently confirmed that MACC was investigating its subsidiary, Defence Technologies Sdn Bhd (Deftech).
The contract pertains to the supply of equipment for the Deftech AV8 Gempita and ACV-300 Adnan armoured fighting vehicles to a defence agency between 2014 and 2017.
On Monday, a 39-year-old company owner with the "Datuk Seri" title was remanded to facilitate the investigation.
