Duo who threatened MPS enforcement director to be charged tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR: Two suspects, aged 23 and 30, detained for allegedly threatening Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) enforcement director on May 13, will be charged at the Selayang Sessions Court tomorrow.

Gombak police chief Assistant Commissioner Samsor Maarof said five other individuals, who were also detained to assist police probe on the case, would stand as witnesses for the prosecution.

He said police were still looking for another suspect, identified as Jafni Abdullah @ Mohd Yusoff, 47, also known as Man Puchong, who was believed to be the mastermind in the incident.

"The main suspect is the owner of an illegal waste disposal site in Kampung Sungai Tua, Batu Caves," he told reporters at the Gombak police headquarters today.

Samsor said checks showed the suspect had resorted to such action because he was unhappy with the council's strict action regarding garbage disposal problem at the site.

"The police will not compromise with acts to instil fear and threatening of civil servants who carry out their duties. We will not hesitate to take firm action against those who commit such acts." he said.

Yesterday, Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador also issued a stern action against those who threaten enforcement personnel.

On Saturday, it was reported that MPS Enforcement and Security director Norhayati Ahmad, lodged a report on May 13, after her home in Taman Muhibbah Rawang, Selangor was sprayed with red paint and two vehicles damaged. -- Bernama
