Businessman loses over RM100,000 in Putrajaya house break-in

PUTRAJAYA: A businessman suffered over RM100,000 losses after his house in Jalan Presint 10 here was broken into while he was away on Hari Raya holidays.

The businessman came home at 3.45pm today to find his house ransacked and bedroom door broken.

Putrajaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Rosly Hasan said the house owner was not at home during the break-in as he had gone back to his hometown up north since June 3.

He said the owner confirmed to have locked his house properly and that his closed-circuit television (CCTV) recording was functioning.

“The owner also found his CCTV equipment and house keys missing. Initial investigation showed some other valuables missing, including four wristwatches, jewelleries, three jackets, a handbag and RM5,000 in cash,” said Rosly when contacted today.

Investigation also found that the suspect(s) entered the house by breaking the front window and got away with a safe containing land permit, wristwatch and cash.

“Checks found that the owner did not inform the nearest police station that he was going away,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code.
